Johor to get 7 more mobile vaccination centres

Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Dr Adham Baba said he hoped the new mobile PPVs will be ready before the end of this month, bringing the total number of mobile PPVs in Johor to 20.
“This effort is in line with our commitment for the outreach programme that is meant to speed up the vaccination process in states about to face the monsoon season, including Johor,” Adham said in a statement today.
Up to Sept 4, a total of 175,360 Johor residents have received their vaccine doses from the existing 13 mobile PPVs, he said.
“When the number of mobile PPVs is increased to 20, I believe a lot more Johoreans, especially those in rural areas, will get their vaccine shots in the shortest time,” said the minister.
For the record, there are currently 364 PPVs in Johor.
Adham said Johor has fully vaccinated 52.6 percent of its adult population and a total of 3.68 million shots had been administered in the state.
The average daily vaccination rate in Johor for the past seven days is 59,683. The state recorded 59,240 doses administered yesterday.
Adham also noted Johor is now the state to receive the second-highest vaccine supply in August with 2.105 million vaccine doses, and they are set to remain in that position throughout September, with 1.984 million more doses on their way.
“With this amount of supply, I am sure the vaccination efforts in Johor will be increased,” he said.
Previously, newly minted Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Covid-19 operations and vaccination will be intensified in five states including Johor.
He said drastic measures were needed in those five states to urgently lower the number of Covid-19 cases there.
The other four states are Sabah, Penang, Kedah, and Kelantan.
