A former Malacca opposition lawmaker has cried foul over a letter to Istana Negara seeking to restore the state legislative assembly - which claimed to represent 15 assemblypersons.

A former Malacca opposition lawmaker has cried foul over a letter to Istana Negara seeking to restore the state legislative assembly - which claimed to represent 15 assemblypersons.
Low Chee Leong, who was the Kota Laksamana assemblyperson until the state assembly was dissolved, said the letter had misrepresented him and should be retracted.
He said Malacca Pakatan Harapan chief Adly Zahari did not consult him and other lawmakers before signing the letter.
"I was totally in the dark and didn't know anything about the letter.
"I can't accept this, and I want the letter to be retracted as I was misrepresented.
"You have to respect me and let me know about the contents first," Low (above) told Malaysiakini.
The letter to the palace was addressed to Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Nazrin Shah - who is the acting king at the moment.
It beseeched the monarch to advise Malacca Governor Mohd Ali Rustam to retract his decision on dissolving the state assembly.
Harapan central leadership approved letter
The letter, which Malaysiakini sighted, claimed to represent 15 state lawmakers - including 11 from Harapan.
The letter was signed by Adly and the four Malacca rebels who withdrew their support for the state administration - Idris Haron, Norhizam Baktee, Noor Effandi Ahmad and Nor Azman Hassan.
Low said he confronted Adly over the letter and was told that Harapan's central leadership had greenlit the letter.
The gist of the letter was revealed to the media last night by PKR information chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin after Norhizam and Noor Effandi met with him at Harapan chairperson Anwar Ibrahim's office.
Malaysiakini has contacted Adly for comment.
The Malacca government led by then chief minister Sulaiman Md Ali collapsed after Idris, Norhizam, Noor Effandi, and Nor Azmin withdrew their support.
They had planned to team up with Harapan to form a new state government.
However, the state assembly was dissolved instead, paving the way for a fresh election.
