Shorter quarantine for vaccinated close contacts, arrivals

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that quarantine periods for fully vaccinated close contacts and international arrivals have been shortened.
From Monday (Oct 18) onwards, close contacts who are fully vaccinated will need to undergo home quarantine for seven days.
This is down from the current 10 days.
Close contacts who are partially vaccinated or not vaccinated will need to undergo home quarantine for 10 days.
Also, from Oct 18 onwards, international arrivals who are fully vaccinated will need to quarantine for seven days upon the arrival.
This can be done at a designated quarantine station or at home if the latter is deemed suitable.
This is also down from the current 10 days.
International arrivals who are partially vaccinated or not vaccinated will need to quarantine for 10 days at a designated quarantine station.
R&R, e-hailing, cybercafes
In his statement today, the prime minister also announced that all Rest and Service (R&R) stops nationwide will be able to operate on a 24-hour basis beginning Saturday (Oct 16).
This comes after interstate travel was allowed from Oct 11 onwards.
Also, from Oct 16 onwards, restrictions on the number of passengers allowed in e-hailing vehicles will be lifted.
“E-hailing vehicles are allowed to take passengers based on their seating capacity for all National Recovery Plan phases,” he said.
Meanwhile, cybercafes and cyber centres in Phase 3 states will be able to operate at 80 percent capacity.
Such establishments in Phase 4 states will be able to operate at full capacity.
This is effective Sunday (Oct 17).
Umrah, events
Ismail Sabri also announced loosened restrictions for umrah pilgrimages.
From Oct 18 onwards, pilgrims will be allowed to travel abroad without the need for a MyTravelPass.
As for events under the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions category, the prime minister announced that face-to-face events will be allowed in Phase 3 states for fully vaccinated individuals from Oct 18 onwards.
Participants must take a saliva-based rapid test or RTK-Antigen test before the event.
They must also maintain physical distancing and wear a facemask during the event. The event venue must operate at a 50 percent capacity.
Phase 3 states as of Oct 18 will be Perlis, Terengganu, Sarawak, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Johor and Sabah.
Meanwhile, Phase 4 states will be Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, Selangor, Malacca, Pahang and Negeri Sembilan.
