The Ministry of Health (MOH) has issued compounds of RM 10,000 each to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Malacca BN chief Ab Rauf Yusoh.
This is for failing to comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the campaigning period of the recently concluded Malacca state election.
The compounds were issued following an investigation into a video recording (above) that went viral on social media.
The video showed the duo not complying with SOPs when they were at Masjid Tanah in the Alor Gajah district.
The compounds were issued under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
The Malacca polls SOPs were aimed at curbing Covid-19 which was feared would spread if political parties conducted house-to-house campaigning and if campaigners did not wear face masks.
