PM to present proposal for HSR project revival to cabinet on Friday
PARLIAMENT | Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob will present to the cabinet this Friday about the proposed revival of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR), said Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong.

Ismail Sabri had reportedly proposed the HSR project’s revival in a bilateral meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Nov 29.
“We have not had a cabinet meeting yet (since the bilateral meeting).
“On Friday, the prime minister will report to the cabinet about the results of the bilateral meeting between the two countries,” Wee said.
He said this during his winding-up speech for the committee stage of the Transport Ministry’s allocation under the Budget 2022 debate in the Dewan Rakyat today.
He was responding to concerns from MPs about the proposed revival of the HSR project, which comes after Ismail Sabri’s predecessor Muhyiddin Yassin terminated the project at a cost of RM320 million.
Wee said the announcement about the HSR project’s proposed revival was made directly after the bilateral meeting in Singapore, and as such, it has not been discussed by the cabinet yet.
He also said there has been no time frame set for the discussion related to the project’s revival.
“It is just an official statement between two prime ministers (directly after the bilateral meeting),” he said.
Wee also responded to a question from RSN Rayer (Pakatan Harapan-Jelutong) on whether Najib Abdul Razak (BN-Pekan) was present at the bilateral meeting.
Rayer said he had seen photographs of Najib being present at the bilateral meeting.
Wee insisted there were only the prime minister, International Trade and Industries Minister Azmin Ali, Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah, himself and their officers from Malaysia present at the meeting.
“I was there all day and it was only us in the meeting,” he stressed.
