Power being restored to flood-affected areas in S'gor - minister
Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) is gradually reconnecting power supply to areas affected by the flood, said Energy and Natural Resources Minister Takiyuddin Hassan.
He, however, said that it was still not possible to restore power supply to the worst flood-affected areas due to safety concerns, including Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam.

He, however, said that it was still not possible to restore power supply to the worst flood-affected areas due to safety concerns, including Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam.
For the record, heavy rain last Friday and Saturday resulted in residents of Taman Sri Muda and Hulu Langat being stranded for days.
"We are looking into how TNB can reconnect the power supply in the flood-affected areas," Takiyuddin told the media while visiting a TNB substation in Taman Sri Muda yesterday.
He said there are 70 main distribution substations, 221 distribution power transformers and 1,335 distribution substations in Selangor.
He said 916 out of 1,335 distribution substations had been restored operationally, constituting 60 percent of total distribution substations.
"However, I would like to inform you that there are processes that we need to go through before we can resume power supply (fully).
"Look at the situation in Sri Muda, which is still flooded. It is not possible for us to reconnect the power supply to users. Everyone needs to understand that we must ensure it is safe before doing so.
"Therefore, we need to wait until the situation improves," he said.
On Dec 20, TNB temporarily shut down 333 power substations in six states due to the dire flood situation and out of safety concerns for both consumers and TNB employees.
This included 137 power substations closed in Pahang, Kelantan (seven), Selangor (117), Kuala Lumpur (45), Malacca (10) and Negri Sembilan (17).
