Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has called for an special Dewan Rakyat meeting on Jan 20.
The agenda will be focused on floods, aid for flood victims and long-term flood management.
"The meeting is important because it will provide the government with a platform to explain measures that have been taken and planned by the government on flood-related matters.
"This session is also the best platform for MPs to provide feedback on flood matters," said Ismail.
This special sitting is still under the fourth session of the 14th Parliament. The fifth session, which will be preceded by a royal address, is only expected in late February.
Flooding in various parts of the country since mid-December last year has led to at least 54 deaths and massive losses of property and destruction to infrastructure.
Widespread flooding occurred at a time when government spending was focused on helping the economy get back on its feet.
So far, the government has offered a cash handout of RM1,000 for flood victims and RM10,000 for families that have lost a loved one due to the floods.
The government is also offering subsidies for electrical appliances, vehicle repairs, home repairs, electricity bills and replacement furniture, among others.
Both Umno and Pakatan Harapan have previously urged Ismail to hold a special Parliamentary sitting.
