Umno Sabah will consider Sindumin assemblyperson Yusof Yacob's application to join the party.

Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin said the application was received last month and the state Umno leadership will deliberate on it soon.

"In principle, Sabah Umno has no objections to accepting his application," he said, according to Umno-online.

Yusof (above) won the Sindumin seat twice on a Warisan ticket. He left the party in October last year.

Bung Moktar was speaking to reporters at the sidelines of Yusof's Hari Raya Aidilfitri event in Kampung Pelakat, Sipitang yesterday.

Other Umno leaders at the event include Sabah Umno deputy head Yakub Khan, state Umno secretary Jafry Arifin, state Umno treasurer Suhaimi Nasir and state Umno information chief Raimee Unggi.

Warisan has lost assemblypersons due to defections since the 2020 state elections.

Currently, the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition government under Hajiji Noor controls 52 seats in the Sabah legislative assembly, of which six seats are filled by unelected members.
