He said a party that expressed support for the winning coalition only seeks position and interest.
"I am saddened by what he said at a forum last Sunday. He said he was willing to work with any political coalition, be it BN, Perikatan Nasional or Pakatan Harapan that formed the government.
"His view seems to be unprincipled. Secondly, it’s absurd," the Seremban MP said in a live online interview yesterday.
"Why would a winning coalition want to work with other parties? This doesn’t make sense to me. They will only work with other parties if they lose," Loke added.
While Loke does not rule out the possibility for the ruling and opposition coalitions to establish some form of cooperation after the general election, he said the prerequisite of such cooperation must be built on a strong opposition.
"We need to strengthen ourselves first if we want post-election cooperation, that’s the major condition. We need to have a lot of new seats so we can use them as bargaining chips.
"Otherwise, there’s no reason for them to negotiate or work with you again,” said Loke.
On June 26, Shafie said his party was willing to work with the political coalition that wins the next election for the sake of political stability.
