In a statement, Wan Junaidi (above) said the bill will be tabled on July 18 and the select committee which reviewed the bill has proposed July 27 and 28 for the debate.
Prior to the debates, the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department and the Attorney-General's Chambers will hold briefings for government and opposition MPs on July 25 and 26 respectively.
If the passage of the law goes through both the lower and upper houses smoothly, Wan Junaidi said the government can seek assent from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong between Aug 11 and 26 before finally gazetting the bill between Aug 28 and Sept 2.
This is the clearest timeline ever set by Wan Junaidi who has been frustrated multiple times by the cabinet over this bill.
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob committed himself to creating this law last year and tasked Wan Junaidi with preparing it.
When the bill was ready to be tabled on April 11, the cabinet suddenly got cold feet.
This led to Parliament creating a new select committee - headed by Wan Junaidi - specifically to review the bill.
