Rafizi: PKR will leave Harapan components to 'clean own backyard'

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli today said there will be internal differences among Pakatan Harapan parties and each component should be given room to make improvements in facing the upcoming 15th general election. 

He said this while maintaining that PKR will not interfere in the internal matters of any Harapan component party.

“In any democracy, differences of opinion are normal, but I can’t speak on behalf of other parties.

“You hear about things here and there but to me, you need to see each issue based on its substance,” said Rafizi during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur after launching PKR’s Cista application for party volunteers.

He said this when asked for comments on Amanah president Mohamad Sabu’s remarks yesterday during the party’s annual convention, that Harapan continues to be plagued with internal issues ahead of GE15.

“Each party has to clean our own backyard.

“If the difference of opinion is not about fighting for positions, but due to fundamental reasons on maintaining idealism, I hope that the people can give us some room,” he said.

Recalling the PKR experience, Rafizi said his party was similarly given room to rid its ranks of “opportunists” and elements of money politics.

“When PKR had to clean our own backyard, other parties gave us space and understood enough that we have to go through the process

“As PKR deputy president, whatever space is needed, what needs to be done by other components, this is the time for PKR to cover for them as much as possible because we were given the space to do so before this,” he said.
