PAS expects to make final decision on Umno, Bersatu next week

PAS may make a final decision on whether it will side with Umno or Bersatu next week, said its spiritual leader.

Hashim Jasin said that party president Abdul Hadi Awang has already met with Umno and Bersatu chiefs, and PAS is now deliberating the matter.

“A decision may come next week,” Hashim was quoted as saying by FMT.

“We will meet and find a consensus. Whether to continue with Muafakat Nasional (and Umno) or otherwise.

“But PAS hopes we (Malay-Muslim parties) will stay united,” he added.

Hashim (above) hoped for a positive outcome and said that their main goal is to have a united front against Pakatan Harapan.

Bersatu chief Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday said that PAS would have a cut-off date on its future with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Umno soon.

Muhyiddin, who is also the PN chairperson, made Umno-led BN his coalition’s main enemy for the next general election, contradicting PAS’ stance on the matter.

Meanwhile, Umno has called for a ceasefire with PAS after Hadi met with party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

PAS has argued that having all three Malay-Muslim parties united would be the basis of a strong and stable government.
