Amanah Youth leaders expected to run in Temerloh, Tasek Gelugor

Amanah is expected to field party youth wing chief Hasbie Muda to defend Temerloh in the 15th general election while his deputy Razak Ridzuan will run for the first time in Tasek Gelugor.

A party source said this is a big mandate for Hasbie (above, left) to replace Amanah’s incumbent Temerloh MP Anuar Tahir - who is said to not be contesting this time over health reasons.

"The candidacy of these two people has also realised Amanah Youth's wish that they are given grade A seats in this general election," added the source within Amanah who wished to remain anonymous.

In the 14th general election, Anuar won the Temerloh parliamentary seat in Pahang with a slim majority of 1,904 votes defeating candidates from BN and PAS.

The Tasek Gelugor parliamentary constituency in Penang was previously won by BN candidate Shabudin Yahaya - who later joined Bersatu.

In the 2018 general election, Hasbie attempted to run for the Paka state assembly seat in Terengganu, but lost to PAS.

Malaysiakini previously reported that Amanah is expected to contest 56 parliamentary seats across the country.

This is said to be an increase of 29 seats compared to the number of seats Amanah contested in the last polls.

During GE14, Amanah contested 27 parliamentary seats and won 11 of them.
