Loke dodges PM's Tommy Thomas 'trap'

Pakatan Harapan will not fall into Ismail Sabri Yaakob's trap by commenting on the Tommy Thomas task force report, said DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke.

He said it was clear that the BN prime minister candidate was trying to gain political ammunition from the issue.

"We know Ismail Sabri wants to use this as (political) bullets... they want to turn this into a political issue for them to capitalise on.

"We will not fall into the trap," Loke (above) said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

A task force probing Thomas' memoir had recommended that the former attorney-general be probed for sedition and breaking government secrecy laws. The task force also suggested that Thomas interfered in judicial appointments.

Following this, Ismail Sabri ordered enforcement agencies to investigate further the various allegations made in Thomas’ memoir.

Yesterday, the caretaker prime minister said Harapan's muted response on the issue suggested they were guilty.

Loke said there was no need for Harapan to speak on Thomas' behalf.

"If there was any legal offence, investigate it. We (Harapan) don't need to answer on Thomas' behalf.

"Even if he was appointed as attorney-general (during our administration), he was not a (coalition) leader or a Harapan member.

"He will defend himself if there is any case," he said.
