Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin today denied any ongoing discussions with Dr Mahathir Mohamad's Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) coalition in preparation for the 15th general election (GE15).

Speaking to reporters after chairing a PN supreme council meeting, Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president, said: "There are no discussions with GTA".

"We have decided, the existing PN components will proceed with existing initiatives among us," said the incumbent Pagoh MP.

When pointed out that Mahathir had at a press conference earlier today said negotiations with PN are ongoing, Muhyiddin insisted otherwise.

"I don't know of any discussion, but even if there was any it did not reach the highest level.

"For me, it is not important, because what is important as of now there are no formal discussions," said Muhyiddin ahead of official nominations on Nov 5.

"Maybe there were intentions, but we will proceed only with PN," he added.

Speaking at a press conference in Putrajaya, Mahathir, who announced a list of eight Pejuang candidates, earlier claimed talks with PN are experiencing some minor issues and that no agreements have been made as of yet.

Mahathir said the engagement with PN and also Harapan was needed in order to eject BN from Putrajaya again.
