Zuraida to defend Ampang seat

Zuraida Kamaruddin will be defending her Ampang parliamentary seat in the 15th general election (GE15), seeking a fourth term.

This was announced by Parti Bangsa Malaysia's (PBM) Nor Hizwan Ahmad during a press conference at the party's Bukit Antarabangsa headquarters, according to The Vibes.

"I can confirm today, as of now, the parliamentary seat will be defended by PBM president Zuraida," said Hizwan.

Zuraida (above) was not present during the announcement.

Apart from Ampang, Hizwan said five other PBM incumbent MPs will be defending their seats – who are Edmund Santhara Kumar (Segamat), Larry Sng (Julau), Steven Choong (Tebrau), Mohamaddin Ketapi (Lahad Datu) and Xavier Jayakumar (Kuala Langat).

Currently, Zuraida and Nor Hizwan's status in PBM is in dispute.

On Oct 8, the PBM supreme council claimed that it had appointed Zuraida as the party president, replacing Sng.

Yesterday, Sng claimed that Registrar of Societies (ROS) records showed that he was still the legitimate president of PBM.

Following this, Sng said he was compelled to suspend Nor Hizwan as the PBM secretary-general and Zakaria Abdul Hamid as the information chief.

Asked about the move by Sng, Hizwan brushed it off and stressed that he had not received any notice of his suspension.
