Floods expected in six districts of T'ganu, 8 districts in Kelantan from Dec 18

Six districts in Terengganu and eight districts in Kelantan are expected to be hit by floods from tomorrow based on a flood forecast model simulation by the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID).

According to the department, the six affected districts in Terengganu are Kuala Terengganu, Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman, while in Kelantan, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah, Jeli, Kota Bharu, Kuala Krai, Tumpat, Gua Musang and Machang will be affected.

In Besut, the areas forecasted to be hit by floods at 2am tomorrow include Kampung (Kg) Pinang, Bukit Puteri, Kg Bekok, Kg Cegar Kubor, Jambatan Keruak, Kg Cawangan and Kg Nail, while in Setiu, Kg Che Mohit, Kg Kubang Payu, Kampung Banggol Setar, Kg Pengkalan Merbau, Kg Tasik, Kg Permaisuri, Kg Besut Kg Pepari are expected to be hit.

Also, in Hulu Terengganu, Kg Menerong, PPSK Menerong, Kg Pengkalan Ajal, Kg Pasir Pelata, Kg Tanjung Putat, Kg Lebak, Kg Pasir Simpul, Kg Tengkawang, Kg Kepah and Kg Baung are likely to be flooded, while Kg Shukor, Kg Dendang, Felda Jerangau, Kg Tepus, Kg Serdang and Kg Padang Pulut in Dungun will also be affected.

In Kemaman district, Felda Cherul, Kg Binjai, Kg Cheneh and Kg Pasir Gajah are among the areas to be flooded due to heavy rain in the East Coast states that began today and are expected to last till Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the forecasted floods in Kelantan are expected to hit areas in the state in stages, between 7am, 4pm and midnight tomorrow, stretching till noon on Dec 19.

The areas predicted to be flooded by 7am tomorrow include the Kg Kubang Rambutan in Rantau Panjang (Pasir Mas district), as well as Kg Nibong, Kg Jenob (Tanah Merah district), while Sungai Lanas (Jeli), Kg Bendang Guchil and Kg Rantau Panjang Lubok (Pasir Mas district) are expected to be hit by 4pm.

Areas including Kg Kuala Itik, Kg Limau Purut, Kg Pengkalan Piah, Kg Pengkalan Telok (Pasir Mas district), Kg Kedai Buloh, Kg Keladang, Jeti Kastam in Kota Bharu district are expected to be hit by midnight Dec 19.

Other areas that are likely to be flooded at midnight include Kg Batu Jong, Kg Hujong Tanjong, Kg Pusu Tujoh, Kg Kuala Gris (Kuala Krai district), Kg Kok Majid (Tumpat district), Kg Riek (Gua Musang), Kg Pasir Panji (Tanah Merah district), Kg Kerilla, Kg Paloh and Kg Hau in Machang district.

Meanwhile, at noon the same day, floods have been forecast to hit Kg Kubang Bual, Kg Kenor, Taman Sri Guchil, Kg Bukit Chengat, Kg Banggol Guchil (Kuala Krai district), Kubang Simpul, Kg Chabir (Tanah Merah district), Kg Teluk Renjuna, Kg Pulau Seratus, Kg Lubok Kawah (Tumpat district), Kg Tepi Sungai (Machang), Kg Lakat, Kg Sireh (Kota Bharu district), Kg Kelar, Kg Sakar, Air Mulih (Pasir Mas district) as well as Kg Limau Kasturi in Gua Musang.

An update on flood evacuees indicated that there were 23 people from six families housed at SK Atas Tol here as of 2pm today.
