Malacca CM, state Umno chief must put to rest tussle claims

Two important characters in Malacca politics, namely Umno liaison committee chairperson Ab Rauf Yusoh and Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali, must sit down together and dispel rumours that the top administrative post will change hands.
Based on a video clip that was uploaded on Masjid Tanah’s BN Information Facebook last night, Rauf (above) had said what was raised regarding the issue was nothing more than a slanderous attempt by an individual with vested interests.
“Please stop such slander because we are monitoring the movement and character of individuals who play up such issues that have heated up the state government’s situation. Our relationship is one of good friendship,” he said.
He added that from the beginning, both had agreed that whatever happens, there will be no secrets between the two and the rumours are nothing more than slander
It is also an embarrassment to the state that was able to win two-thirds majority in the legislative assembly in the last state election, Rauf said.
“It is very unfortunate when there are leaders who spew slander to create disunity between us, including Kamarulzaman Jantan (Umno Masjid Tanah committee). I urge such leaders to stop this slander because only death can separate us,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sulaiman stressed that the main focus now was to continue the agenda of developing Malacca and not entertain the baseless and never-ending rumours.

He said the people must be concerned with issues raised by such groups to disrupt the peace and harmony enjoyed all these while.
“We three are long-time good friends, therefore, do not raise such issues but rather focus on the duties dedicated to them because the effects will also reflect on the people of the state,” he said in the same video clip.
Sulaiman, who is Lendu assemblyperson, had denied claims that Rauf is taking over his position as chief minister, prompting speculation that there is a leadership tussle.
