Puad: Hishammuddin tried to get BN MPs to support Muhyiddin

Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein was suspended because he was the main driver in getting a few BN MPs to sign statutory declarations (SD) to back Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin to become premier after the polls, claimed Puad Zarkashi.

"Bringing Umno MPs to Azmin Ali's house. Asking Sabah division heads to join Bersatu. Hishammuddin was spearheading the move to get BN MPs to support Muhyiddin.

"Getting sacked is painful but necessary. If you really love the party, file an appeal. If you don't want to appeal, wait for six years.

“Unless you have other options. Make a choice," said the Umno supreme council member in a Facebook post this morning.

On Khairy’s sacking, Puad (above) said that the latter had taken an “extraordinary step” by criticising Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during GE15 campaigning.

“Talking bad about the party and our president during the GE15 campaign was too much. He also claimed that there were phantom voters at the 2022 Umno annual general assembly, which was malicious,” he stated.

Puad then emphasised that the decisions were made upon the recommendations of the Umno disciplinary board and were not the president's decision alone.

"Noh Omar who attended the supreme council meeting last night was confused. He (wrongly) accused (Zahid) of making his own decisions.

"But this is different from when (Dr) Mahathir (Mohamad) sacked Anwar Ibrahim from Umno (in 1998). Mahathir brought the matter to the supreme council without going through the disciplinary board," alleged Puad.

He went on to say that those who went against the decisions made by the party leadership were the ones who had caused rifts within its ranks.

Yesterday, Umno presidential hopeful Khairy was sacked from the party.

Noh also got the boot after he asked to be let go following his six years of suspension.

Several others have been suspended for six years including Hishammuddin and incumbent deputy Umno Youth chief Shahril Hamdan Suffian.

Also suspended were former Jempol MP Salim Sharif and former Tiram assemblyperson Maulizan Bujang.
