Body in sewage tank - cops hunting 8 murder suspects

Police are looking for eight suspects in connection with the murder of an Indonesian man, whose body was found in a sewage tank at a house in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, on May 14.

According to Bernama, Perak police chief Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said all of the suspects are also Indonesians and were housemates of the victim.

“We have identified them and are tracking them down. Give us time to wrap up the investigations and refer the case to the deputy public prosecutor,” he said.

Yusri said this to reporters at the Perak police Aidilfitri open house at the Perak Tengah district police headquarters in Bota, last night.

Perak ruler, Sultan Nazrin Shah graced the ceremony.

Also present at the gathering were Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, Raja Muda of Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, Raja Puan Besar of Perak Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris Shah, Raja Di Hilir of Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah and Raja Puan Muda of Perak Tunku Soraya Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.

Meanwhile, Berita Harian quoted Yusri as saying that two of the eight suspects, as previously revealed by police, were a husband and wife couple who were also housemates with the victim.

The other six were new suspects found to be living in a nearby rental house.

"Police found their identification documents including passports and we will cooperate with the Indonesian embassy to identify and track them to assist in this case," said Yusri.

He added that police had also alerted the Immigration Department to detect the suspects at all international exit points.

It was previously reported that a post-mortem conducted at Ipoh's Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital on May 15 found that the victim, who was in his 40s, died due to head injury from blunt force trauma.
