PAS admits Annuar into its fold

Former BN secretary-general Annuar Musa has officially been admitted into PAS.

Annuar's membership certificate was officially handed to him at Perikatan Nasional's "Ceramah Perdana Gelombang Kebangkitan Rakyat" rally in Seremban last night.

According to Bernama, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan announced that Annuar and 3,000 new members were recently accepted.

"Many have applied to become members of PAS, Bersatu...(after this) names of other community leaders who have also joined PAS will be announced from time to time," he said.

PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang were also in attendance.

Annuar was expelled from Umno last December for alleged sabotage during the 15th general election last November.

He is a five-time lawmaker and is considered a prominent figure in Kelantan politics.

During the Muhyiddin administration, he was seen as an opponent to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and a proponent of cooperation between Umno and PN.

In a Facebook post earlier today, Annuar said he remains steadfast in fighting for the Malays and Islam in leading unity and developing the country.

He claimed that Umno has tarnished the mandate of the people through various manipulations and tricks and ended up supporting “parties with socialist and liberal ideologies”.

“As a faithful leader of the party at the time, I saw and experienced for myself all sorts of tricks and manipulations by the Umno leadership and I tried to reject it firmly but failed.

“This has further crippled Umno as well as made Umno increasingly irrelevant and they no longer care about the basis of their struggle.

“It has become a tool of individual interests without caring about the feelings and hopes of the Malays who support (the party),” the former Umno supreme council member.

As such, he said, his choice is clear.

Aside from Annuar, actor and director Eizlan Yusof also confirmed that he has joined PAS, following the announcement from party secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.

“I joined PAS because I believe the struggle brought by PAS is not just rhetoric and this party is not as espoused by the opposition.

“Even when I was with Annuar in Muafakat Nasional (MN), I saw his determination in wanting to unite the rakyat and to fight for Islam and the Malays without shunning religious and racial differences,” he said.
