Caretaker Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor claimed a plan to arrest and undermine his credibility has been in the works since six months ago.
Sanusi said this was based on information he received from his friend, who warned that action will be taken following his open criticism of certain parties.
“The plot to arrest me has been planned since six months ago, I already knew. I have my own ‘intelligent’; I met with someone who reminded me to watch out for others who want to do (something) to me.
“For my safety, I have a pistol in my car 24 hours, two magazines, 14 bullets per magazine. For 24 hours I am on alert for fear of people doing something bad (to me). If others aren’t bad to me, I will not be bad to others.
“For six months, my friends have been telling me, what’s important is to arrest and handcuff me, discredit my morals and credibility, and after that, no one will want to listen to my speeches because I have been humiliated with an arrest,” the Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director said as reported by Berita Harian today.

On Tuesday (July 18), Sanusi was arrested and slapped with two charges of sedition at the Selayang Sessions Court over his July 11 ceramah.
Both charges accused him of uttering words that had the tendency to incite disloyalty against a ruler.
The incumbent menteri besar also claimed that he was not given a copy of the two charge sheets by the prosecutor after being charged in court that day.
“I respect my friends in the police force, do not blame the police for doing their job based on orders from the top all the way to the ministers, they are forced to. The reason for arresting me was to undermine my credibility and pull me to the ground.
“I was charged with two offences but the charge sheets were not given (to me). I was only read (the charges) and I pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor said I have to buy (the charge sheets) online but later the sheets went viral with the goal of humiliating me,” Sanusi said.
If found guilty, Sanusi can be jailed for up to three years, fined up to RM5,000, or both for each offence.
Sanusi has claimed trial for both charges. Both cases are set for pre-trial proceedings on Oct 4.
The incumbent Jeneri assemblyperson was also issued a gag order to bar him from speaking about the trial in public.
