Vigneswaran pooh-poohs S'gor PN claim of 20 MIC divisions' support

STATE POLLS | Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) today claimed it had the support of 20 MIC divisions in the state.

However, MIC president SA Vigneswaran said this was an impossible claim.

“It’s not true. It’s impossible for 20 MIC divisions in Selangor to declare support for PN without the leadership’s knowledge.

“The leadership’s message to MIC members is clear, that is to support BN candidates only,” Vigneswaran (above) told Malaysiakini when contacted.

Earlier today, Selangor PAS secretary-general Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir claimed that 20 Selangor MIC division leaders had met with the state PN deputy chief Ahmad Yunus Hairi recently.

“They (the MIC leaders) said they would support PN candidates,” Roslam claimed.

He also claimed that MCA leaders from Kapar and other divisions had also expressed support for PN.

MCA and MIC are not contesting the six state elections.

Previously MIC’s former Ijok assemblyperson K Parthiban had led a group of 50 Selangor MIC leaders in declaring their support for PN in protest of being sidelined by BN.

Parthiban - who made the declaration while sharing the stage with PN’s Azmin Ali - was then sacked from the party.
