Kelantan PAS will submit its choice for a new menteri besar to Sultan Muhammad V on Monday.

Discussions on the candidate concluded tonight after a meeting attended by top party leaders including PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

However, outgoing menteri besar Ahmad Yakob refused to divulge whose name will be submitted to the state ruler or if there were multiple candidates.

"Wait for Tuesday, the swearing-in will be at 3pm.

"Whether there are one, two, three, or four names is not important, what's important is that we will submit it to His Majesty to be appointed as menteri besar.

PAS had promised a new menteri besar for Kelantan if it won another mandate to govern the east coast state.

On Saturday’s state polls, PAS and PN won 43 out of 45 state seats in Kelantan.

Ahmad - who served as menteri besar since 2013 - is retiring citing his age and health.
