Pahang state executive councillor Johari Harun was among those believed to be on the aircraft that crashed in Elmina, Shah Alam this afternoon.

Pahang state speaker Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin took to Facebook to relay his condolence messages to the deceased, following reports of the 2.45pm incident.

"Sad news. Johari Harun, Pahang exco member, Bentong Umno chief and Pelangai assemblyperson has passed away after being involved in a plane crash in Elmina, Shah Alam.

"May the deceased's soul be blessed. Al-Fatihah," he said, captioning photos of him with Johari (above).

Meanwhile, Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman also took to Facebook to relay her condolences.

"This evening, I got shocking news about a light airplane crash in Elmina, Shah Alam. It is devastating to learn it involves a friend, the late Johari Harun, who is a Pahang exco cum Pelangai assemblyperson.

"I am devastated by this loss. Just two days ago, I was with Datuk Sri Jo, discussing about development in Bentong and Pelangai, which will be planned later," she wrote.

Crashed minutes before landing

Eight people were on board the Beechcraft Model 390, when it crashed two minutes prior to landing in Subang Airport, this afternoon.

The plane reportedly clipped a motorcycle and a car in the process, leading to at least 10 deaths.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan told a press conference earlier that the remains of the deceased have been sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for a post-mortem and their identities will be only confirmed later.
