Dr Xavier Jeyakumar, who is vying for a vice-president's post in the PKR party polls later this week has been accused of not "walking his talk".

PKR Taman Sentosa branch pro-tem chief J Anthony Dass ( photo ), who claimed to have submitted his application form to Xavier in 2004 to become a party member, said that he is still not a registered member due to Xavier's lackadaisical attitude.

"I'm not a registered member, and my branch in Taman Sentosa is just a pro-tem branch. Why? Because Xavier had no time to send in our application form to the headquarters," said Anthony.

Anthony, 52, also stated that nine out of 16 party branches in the Kota Raja division in Klang which is led by Xavier have not been officially registered.

He also explained that almost 300 PKR members from Kota Raja division are just pro-tem members.

"He just talks but he has not lifted his fingers to do anything," he said, adding that he wants Xavier to "walk his talk".

'Memo to supreme council'

In December last year, Anthony, together with other branch leaders in the Kota Raja division submitted a 'lost of confidence' memorandum against Xavier to the party's supreme council.

The memorandum urged the council to take the necessary action against Xavier and to appoint a new leader to take over the division from him.

A copy of the memorandum, made available to malaysiakini, revealed that Xavier had never conducted annual general meetings of the division in 2005 and 2006 for the seven branches which have been registered with the ROS.

It was also stated in the memorandum that Xavier had failed to submit any application to the ROS to officially register the Kota Raja division which is still a pro-tem division although it had been three years since it was separated from Shah Alam division.

However, according to Anthony, the supreme council did not give them any feedback regarding the memorandum.

Anthony, who is an unionist, also revealed that all branch leaders in Kota Raja division are "deadly against Xavier's nomination" to contest for the vice-presidency in the coming party elections.

"There are many eligible candidates," he said, adding that Xavier is enlisted in the party polls because he "rubs shoulders with people holding high positions" in the party.

"The whole of Kota Raja is against him. If he continues to lead the division, all the branches (in Kota Raja) will close shop," he added.

"Kota Raja used to be the strongest fort of PKR because we (the members) are fighters, but now we are all demoralised."

Allegation denied

Anthony, who submitted another application form today also stressed that branch leaders in Kota Raja have pledged support to the party (PKR) but not to self-centred leaders.

"Politics and NGOs (to which Anthony lobbies for) are the same, it's just different sets of people," he said, adding he realises now that politics is made dirty by those playing with power.

Meanwhile, Dr Xavier denied Anthony's allegations against him.

"There was a memorandum sent against me to the supreme council, but after investigations, the council found that the allegations are not true," said Xavier.

The supreme council, he added, also decided that any changes to the division leadership can be done democratically during the AGM after it (the division) gets the approval from the ROS.

Xavier also claimed that the division's committee meets regularly. However he stated that Taman Sentosa branch, led by Anthony, is not in the committee.

"The committee consists of branches that were separated from Shah Alam, and his (Anthony's) branch is not one of them," said Xavier.

"What has Anthony done for the party?" he asked, adding that Anthony claimed to be the branch leader when his branch (Taman Sentosa) is not even registered.

Xavier also denied receiving any application forms from Anthony.
