Pelangai polls: Felda Sg Kemahal supportive of BN - Ismail Sabri

PELANGAI BY-ELECTION | Second-generation Felda settlers have shown positive signals towards BN throughout the campaign so far, said former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

"It seems the mood is towards BN... All the programmes I've participated in (recently) had a lot of young people. Based on that, there is clear support," he said when met at Felda Sungai Kemahal last night.

Ismail Sabri (above, second from left), who is a five-term MP for the neighbouring constituency of Bera, however, said he was unaware of the sentiment in the two other Felda settlements of Chemamoi and Sungai Kemasul.

There are three Felda settlements in the Pelangai constituency, where PN won around 40 percent of the vote share during the 2022 Pahang legislative assembly elections.

Ismail Sabri said the main grouses among second-generation Felda settlers were housing and this was an issue he had attended to when he was prime minister.

Meanwhile, at a ceramah in Simpang Pelangai last night, Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal urged voters to reject BN's candidate to send a signal that Anwar Ibrahim’s political cooperation with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi cannot be tolerated.

"The cooperation is hypocritical. It just stems from the good relationship shared between 'teacher' Anwar and his 'student' Zahid," said Wan Fayshal at a ceramah.

Wan Ahmad Fayshal also told his audience that Umno grassroots was not comfortable cooperating with Pakatan Harapan.

Pelangai will go to the polls on Oct 7.
