RM2,400 rebate for electric motorbike buyers

BUDGET 2024 | The government will introduce a rebate of RM2,400 for the purchase of electronic motorbikes for those with an annual income of below RM120,000.

“To encourage the use of electric motorcycles, the government is introducing the Electric Motorcycle Use Encouragement Scheme for people with an annual income of RM120,000 and below.

“This scheme will provide a rebate of up to RM2,400 to buyers,” Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said when tabling Budget 2024 at the Dewan Rakyat today.

He said that the government will continue to boost the development of the local electric vehicle (EV) industry and encourage the people's to use EV.

“The government also welcomes an investment of over RM170 million by leading companies such as TNB, Gentari and Tesla Malaysia to install 180 EV charging stations.

“The government plans to extend individual income tax relief of up to RM2,500 on EV charging facility expenses for a period of four years and tax deductions for EV rental costs for a period of two years,” added Anwar.

In addition, to support the needs of the LRT3 project, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has agreed to acquire 150 electric buses and build three bus depots at a cost of RM600 million, he said.
