Nazri Abdul Aziz revealed that the United States Department of State is not pleased with Malaysia's undivided support for Hamas and the people of Palestine amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
However, the Malaysian ambassador to the US said he made it clear to Washington that Putrajaya would not budge or bow to pressure nor sympathise with Israel.
“How can Malaysia sympathise with those who act without humanity?” he said.
Nazri said the superpowers have not expressed sympathy with the plight of the Palestinians, including children, who have been suffering for decades.
On Hamas, the ambassador said he told Washington that Malaysia’s support should not be questioned because Hamas, which the US considers a terrorist organisation, was elected in Gaza.
“There is no reason for Malaysia not to be with the people of Palestine in their efforts to demand their rights which have been seized.
“Malaysia will not bow to pressure from any quarters on its support for Hamas and Palestine,” he told Astro Awani.
On the domestic front, Nazri questioned the sanity of Malaysians who backed Israel.
He said only those with “mental problems” would support what the Israeli regime is doing to Palestinians.
“There is no need for Israel to ‘play victim’ in this issue because they have acted in a more inhumane and violent manner in the past,” he added.

Nazri also criticised the Department of State for not facilitating communication between Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir and Secretary of State Anthony J Blinken.
He claimed that flimsy excuses were given when Zambry attempted to contact Blinken.
“The excuses Washington gave to Wisma Putra were weak. It is as if they wanted to belittle Malaysia by suggesting for Zambry to communicate with Blinken’s deputy instead,” he added.
Echoing Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Nazri called on Israel to end its attacks on Gaza and for the establishment of a humanitarian corridor in Rafah, Egypt.
Those blindly support the killing & kidnapping of innocent people are the ones mentally insane!
