SG4 can be economic force with Dr M as adviser: Perlis MB
PAS MUKTAMAR | The four states (SG4) that are currently governed by PAS have the potential to become an economic force after the appointment of Dr Mahathir Mohamad as their adviser, said Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.

PAS MUKTAMAR | The four states (SG4) that are currently governed by PAS have the potential to become an economic force after the appointment of Dr Mahathir Mohamad as their adviser, said Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.
Shukri said SG4 - which comprises Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu - will also have the capabilities to challenge and be “feared” by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s administration.
“As proof, Perlis had received an investment commitment worth RM1.3 billion last week, in addition to the existing investment amounting to RM2.5 billion,” he said during a public speaking event among four menteris besar held in conjunction with the 69th PAS Muktamar at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam, Selangor last night.
Also present were Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, Kelantan Menteri Besar Mohd Nassuruddin Daud, and Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
The pouring rain did not stop PAS supporters from showing up to listen to speeches by the four aforementioned menteris besar, which ended at almost midnight.
An estimated 500-strong crowd from all walks of life appeared unbothered by the muddy field as they sat on plastic chairs arranged under a white tent that was erected in the IDCC compound.

With the investments, Shukri expressed confidence that the four states would be able to stand on their own feet without Putrajaya’s help.
“We hope that after this, we do not need to be reliant on the federal government. “We will work towards the wellbeing of the people or Perlis,” he said.
Shadows from the past
Further, he asserted that his governance of Perlis for 11 months so far had been able to silence the Umno and Pakatan Harapan leadership, who questioned him before this.
“When we began to govern (Perlis), we continued all the projects implemented by the previous BN government and we could resolve the investment of approximately RM2.5 billion.
“Umno-Harapan were angry, saying we continued their projects.
“To that, I said, if I were to stop halfway, all the research and planned projects would go to waste.
“We don’t waste, so we carried on with the existing projects by the previous government that have been delayed for so long.”
However, he admitted that it would take time to erase the image of the past BN administration in Perlis since the coalition had ruled the state for over seven decades.
“BN ruled Perlis for a long time. If we want to get rid of the ‘shadow’, it’s difficult and takes time. The first term is to fix and clean what was done by the previous government.
“I have only been (governing) in Perlis for 11 months, it takes a long time to improve the administration.”
