Defend Islam and its laws or PN will act, warns Hadi

PARLIAMENT | PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang (PN-Marang) issued a warning to the current administration to uphold and defend Islam and its laws.

Failure to defend the immunity of syariah and Islam would result in Perikatan Nasional taking over the government once again, he said.

“I am warning the Pakatan Harapan government because this affects Islam, Allah (God) and royalty. I am reminding the government to treat the matter with caution.

“If Pakatan Harapan does not want to act (on matters that threaten Islam), we (PN) will act.

“How do we act? Wait and see,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat today when debating the speech on the 2024 Supply Bill.

Last Sunday, Hadi (above) challenged Harapan leaders in the government to act against “legitimate” 3R issues, of which failure to do so would mean that the latter were “cowards”.

‘Terrible evil’

He claimed that the “real” 3R issues (race, religion and royalty) involved situations that threatened the position of Islam and its laws.

He reiterated today that the country was suffering from a “terrible evil” which challenged syariah and Islam.

“For us, the immunity of Islamic laws cannot be challenged like the royal institutions. What’s more, Islam is listed as the religion of the federation and placed under the Malay rulers. Islam belongs to the majority of people in this country.

“Now there are clever attempts to challenge Islam and the Syariah courts. This cannot be accepted by Muslims.

“If we want to take it to court, we go until we succeed in defending the sovereignty of the syariah," he said.

However, the PAS president assured that PN would never deny the rights of non-Muslims, reminding them that freedom of religion is guaranteed under the Federal Constitution.
