PAC to haul Sivakumar over HRD Corp

Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar is among those who will be called by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) during its proceedings on the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp).

PAC chairperson Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the minister would be called in two more proceedings next week, specifically on Nov 1 and 2.

"As a result of the first proceedings held, the PAC decided to hold two more proceedings.

"The witness who will be called to testify and explain the proceedings on Wednesday, Nov 1, is a Finance Ministry representative in HRD Corp, who was appointed by the ministry,” Ermieyati said during a press conference in Parliament today.

“The following day on Thursday, Nov 2, the PAC will hear the Human Resources Minister’s (Sivakumar) testimony,” she added.

She explained that the committee decided to call these two witnesses to be fair to them because their names were mentioned in the first proceedings.

The PAC previously announced that it would initiate proceedings regarding the management of training funds and the effectiveness of training programs by HRD Corp.

The committee used its authority to launch proceedings as it was not included in the Auditor General's Audit Report (LKAN).

PAC previously summoned deputy secretary-general (policy and international) Amran Ahmad and HRD Corp chief executive Shahul Dawood.

In another development, Ermieyati said that the PAC was in the process of preparing a report on the progress of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project from June to Sept 2023.

"We expect this report to be presented during this meeting," she said.
