Stop blaming opposition over J-Kom scandal, fix the rot within - PAS

PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari today urged government supporters to stop blaming the opposition over a scandal that hit the Community Communications Department (J-Kom).

He said the government should fix the rot within the agency instead.

This came after a J-Kom official claimed that there was a conspiracy behind a viral video showing himself and former J-Kom director-general Mohammad Agus Yusoff allegedly engaging in a flirtatious conversation via a video call.

"I found that there were also those who blamed the opposition in this matter. We had nothing to do with the resignation of J-Kom director-general,” said Fadhli.

"They were having internal fighting, but all of a sudden, someone else is getting blamed.”

Yesterday, J-Kom officer Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jailani held a press conference together with Agus to address the viral video issue.

During the conference, Agus denied allegations of his involvement in the lewd conversation video and claimed that it was doctored.

Toppling plot

Wahab, meanwhile, cried conspiracy, claiming that it was created by someone from J-Kom nicknamed "Mr H" in a plot to topple Agus.

"I stress that the video conversation has been doctored and edited by irresponsible quarters, who are trying to bring down Agus’ reputation.

"The plot to topple Agus was masterminded by a high-ranking individual within J-Kom, whom I name as ‘Mr H’," Wahab reportedly said.

Responding to this, Fadhli, who is Pasir Mas MP, said the case has only two possibilities.

“If Wahab was telling the truth, it proves that there was a dirty game being played within the government agency, especially among political appointees.

“But if otherwise, then the government must take action to clean the agency's name against this accusation," he said on Facebook.

Prior to the scandal, Agus confirmed he had resigned as J-Kom director-general.

He told Malaysiakini he was not pressured into resigning. Instead, the former academician said he wanted to pursue a job offer that he felt was better suited to him.
