More than 1,000 residents of the Kesedar Sejahtera Local Community Settlement Project (PPMS) in Gua Musang are living in fear of a tiger suspected to be on the prowl in the oil palm plantation area over the last few days.

Livestock breeder Mohd Nordin Hashim, 39, said he spotted the pug marks of the animal in the Chin Teck Plantation, about 200m from the settlement, at about 8.30pm yesterday.

"Two days ago, there were residents who claimed to have come across the animal near this area. We are worried that our livestock will be attacked by the wild animal.

"We are also concerned about the safety of the residents who sometimes enter the plantation area to look for banana leaves and release their livestock," he told reporters when met at the Chin Teck Plantation today.

Meanwhile, Galas assemblyperson Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim called for efficient and swift action from the authorities.
