Two journalists killed in Israeli shelling in south Lebanon

Two journalists working for the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen television channel were killed in Israeli shelling on the Tayr Harfa area in southern Lebanon.

Anadolu Agency reported that Al-Mayadeen, in a statement, mourned the death of correspondent Farah Omar and camera operator Rabie Al-Maamari.

Earlier, a Reuters camera operator was killed in Israeli shelling in southern Lebanon.

On Nov 13, Israel’s Security Cabinet approved a proposal to block the Al-Mayadeen television channel and shut its offices in Israel.

Meanwhile, two Palestinian journalists were also killed in Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Monday.

Anadolu, citing official Palestinian news agency Wafa, said an Israeli airstrike on a home in Gaza City left several Palestinians dead, including journalist Alaa’ Taher al-Hasanat.

Another journalist, Ayat Khaddoura, was also killed in an Israeli airstrike on her home in Beit Lahia town, northern Gaza Strip.

According to the news agency, Khaddoura was live on the Palestinian Al-Ghad TV channel shortly before the bombardment of her home. She said on television “this could be my last video.”

More than 60 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Gaza since Oct 7.

The death toll from the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza has jumped to over 13,300 including 5,600 children and 3,550 women, since Oct 7.
