Editor’s note: The article has been updated with Muda’s secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi's response.

Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman will join Perikatan Nasional’s tour across the country to explain current affairs to the public, said Muhyiddin Yassin.

“The tour is aimed at explaining to the people about PN’s stand and role.

“Syed Saddiq (above) told me he was ready to join us (on the tour). Although he is not with PN, he is our ally.

“And the leadership team has decided to tour every state and listen to the people’s grouses and what we can do address them,” Muhyiddin said at a press conference after the closing of the PN Convention today.

Malaysiakini is contacting Syed Saddiq for a response.

Raising public support

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said the tour would take place after Ramadan.

Apart from addressing people’s issues, they would also focus on raising public support for the coalition.

As for the lack of equal allocation for MPs, which resulted in several lawmakers supporting the government, the PN chairperson said the issue does not arise anymore.

The former prime minister said the people knew that as opposition members, they did not get any allocations.

“As Tuan Ibrahim (Tuan Mat) said before, such matters won’t deter us from serving the rakyat,” Muhyiddin added.

Later, Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi said his party would not be joining PN’s tour.

“It’s not a party decision and was never discussed at the central leadership committee.

“Therefore, I deny Muda will be part of PN’s tour,” Amir said on X.

“Syed Saddiq is a Muda MP and must abide by the party’s decision,” he told Malaysiakini separately.
