Govt offered CSA to Hamzah with conditions, claims Ketereh MP

A Bersatu lawmaker has claimed that the government offered a Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) to opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin in exchange for allocation for Perikatan Nasional-held constituencies.

“An offer has been made to support (the leadership of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim). It would be fine if it just concerns the giving of allocations, but there are conditions (attached).

“The problem is the conditions. What if the conditions are too rigid?” Ketereh MP Khlir Mohd Nor told Utusan Malaysia.

He said opposition MPs do not plan to meet with Deputy Prime Minister Fadilah Yusof over the allocations as long as the government imposed conditions.

Khlir (above) said the government should not include specific conditions for MPs to receive the allocations.

“Although we want the allocations, we will not go as individuals, we will only go on a consensus basis,” he added.

‘No allocation restriction’

Last November, Anwar told the Dewan Rakyat that supporting the prime minister is not a condition for equal government allocation for MPs.

"I want to explain so that the rakyat will understand. I do not restrict allocation for any elected representative.

"What I want is for the rules to be respected and to hold discussions for the allocation as done during the previous administration.

"There is no pre-condition or condition that support must be given for the prime minister,” he said.

Anwar was also disappointed that the opposition had manipulated the issue and reiterated his commitment to providing equal allocation for all MPs as promised in Pakatan Harapan's election manifesto.

The opposition’s chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan had accused the prime minister of using the allocation to gain support from certain MPs.

He said the constituency development fund should be given to MPs irrespective of their political affiliation.

So far, six Bersatu MPs have pledged support for Anwar’s leadership.
