MCA questions lack of updates in Teresa's death threat

MCA has questioned the lack of updates on the death threat against Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

In a statement, Wanita MCA deputy chief Tee Hooi Ling pointed out that 11 days have lapsed since the DAP lawmaker received live ammunition and a letter containing racist insults in the latter’s condominium mailbox.

“Wanita MCA not only sympathises (with Kok) but is also eagerly awaiting the outcome of this case as it involves the safety of an MP who is also a woman.

“What’s the update on the case? Was there no CCTV at the scene of the crime? Has the perpetrator been identified and caught?” Tee asked today.

She expressed hope that the police would bring the culprit to book soon and voiced solidarity with Kok in braving the predicament.

Kok had shared the insulting note on Facebook, which read: “C*b**lu Cina?!!! Lu akan mati!!! (You will die) Wait!!!” She added that she had lodged a report on the matter.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication, which provides for a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan voiced solidarity with Kok following the threat and called for a swift investigation into the incident.
