Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn Bhd (Proton) has issued an apology to Malaysians after mislabelling the regions of Sabah and Sarawak during a live presentation.

“Proton acknowledges an error in a presentation mislabelling the states of Sabah and Sarawak.

“We deeply regret this mistake and understand the sensitivities it has stirred among our fellow Malaysians,” it said in the statement.

According to SoyaCincau, Proton was found to have mislabelled the East Malaysian regions during its live presentation on Facebook over the sales network for its EV business, which drew criticism on social media.

On that note, Proton emphasised that it holds Malaysia’s diversity and unity in the highest regard and is committed to respecting and celebrating all equally.

“We sincerely apologise for any misunderstanding caused and appreciate any feedback from the public.

“We will ensure greater care in our future endeavours. Thank you for your understanding and continued support,” it added.
