'Wait for me to run first' - Fadillah jokes on opposition allocations

Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof has refused to comment on the issue of allocations for opposition MPs as raised by Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

"Wait for me to run first," Fadillah (above) quipped when met by reporters after launching the Malaysian Parliamentary Driver Cooperative (GPMP) Berhad at the Parliament building today.

He was believed to be referring to Syed Saddiq running 200km to protest the government for not channelling allocations to opposition MPs.

Syed Saddiq started his marathon campaign dubbed Langkah Muar at 6.30am last Friday and ended at Parliament at around 9.30am today.

Syed Saddiq claimed he had raised RM160,000 in donations from more than 2,000 online and offline contributors throughout the run.

Earlier today, Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, who joined Syed Saddiq on the last 5km leg to Parliament, claimed that the government had “diverted” the allocation that opposition MPs should have received.

He claimed that the allocation was given to political parties that support the government.

In April, Fadillah reportedly said that a draft memorandum of understanding related to the distribution of allocations to opposition members of parliament was being finalised.

Once the draft is ready, the deputy prime minister said it will be submitted to all political parties in government and opposition for their respective approvals.
