'Hogwash' - Kit Siang slams author's 'rebuild Chinese population' claim
DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has dismissed author Romen Bose’s claims that the former tried to “rebuild the Chinese population” during the Pakatan Harapan administration in 2018.

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has dismissed author Romen Bose’s claims that the former tried to “rebuild the Chinese population” during the Pakatan Harapan administration in 2018.
In his book “Shattered Hopes” launched last month, Bose (above, right) claimed that the Special Branch monitored several DAP leaders, including Lim, stating that they were keen to "rebuild the Chinese population”.
“(Ex-PM) Najib Abdul Razak’s former political consultant, Bose was writing hogwash when he said I was trying to ‘rebuild the Chinese population’ during the Harapan administration and even claimed that I was ‘quite successful’.
“I have not read Bose’s latest book but he should not be pulling things from thin air,” Lim said in a statement today.
Bose also alleged that then inspector-general of police Abdul Hamid Bador often visited Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was prime minister at the time, to keep him updated on Harapan leaders’ activities.
On June 24, The Star reported that DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke dismissed Bose’s claims.
"Just one response, rubbish," the transport minister had said.
‘What is Bose talking about?’
Lim agreed with Loke, saying the latter was right to bin Bose’s claims.
“The thought never occurred to me, and I don’t know what he (Bose) was talking about with his further claim that my endeavour was ‘quite successful’.
“DAP is in good hands and since my political retirement in March 2022, I have been thinking of the past and the future of mankind,” the former Iskandar Puteri MP added, referring to his trip to several places including the Bujang Valley in Kedah and China.
Bose also claimed that while Mahathir had appointed Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng to helm the Finance Ministry, the nonagenarian stripped the ministry of its powers over government-linked companies to preserve Malay hegemony.
