NENGGIRI BY-ELECTION | PAS has sarcastically challenged Umno to field a candidate to represent DAP just as PAS did with Bersatu in the Nenggiri by-election.

Perikatan Nasional elections director Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor said he was sure BN could not do that because its relationship with DAP was not based on sincerity.

“BN cannot do this. Because we are sincere in our cooperation with Bersatu, we can come together. If Bersatu can become PAS and PAS can become Bersatu, then Umno can become DAP and DAP can become Umno.

“We in PAS are like brothers, if you have a weakness anywhere we accommodate, that’s the point of PN, to accommodate and help one another.

“BN can’t do it, I hope one day if DAP doesn’t have a candidate, Umno candidates can join DAP to help DAP,” he said when met in Renok Baru, Gua Musang.

Sanusi was visiting voters around Renok Baru as part of the Nenggiri by-election campaign.

PN’s Nenggiri by-election candidate Mohd Rizwadi Ismail

BN’s Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani and PN’s Mohd Rizwadi Ismail will face each other in a straight contest.

Rizwadi was a PAS member who joined Bersatu just before he was announced as PN’s candidate for the by-election. He is contesting under the PAS flag.

PAS-Gerakan spat resolved

Sanusi also dismissed talks of tensions between PAS and Gerakan after the two parties engaged in an open verbal spat regarding the issue of breweries facilitating fundraising activities for Chinese schools.

The Kedah menteri besar said issues between the two PN component parties were resolved internally.

“There is no issue with Gerakan, Gerakan is basically for Chinese voters. If there is a Chinese issue, they will go ahead.

“Our base is Malay, so we talk about Malay-related issues but not to the point of breaking the relationship in PN,” he added.
