S'gor MB quips reshuffle report made him think about exco revamp

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari has dismissed the possibility of an exco reshuffle happening in the state at the end of this month, or next.

“Perhaps I should call for a reshuffle now that there is a news report about it. But it’s alright, the news is a good reminder for all (state exco members) to perform better. Make sure we fulfil what is promised and achieve the set targets.

“This (news of reshuffle) is ‘contagious’. First, there were talks of a reshuffle in the federal government, and now, in Selangor. But there’s no such thing,” Amirudin (above) told reporters in Shah Alam today.

He added that he has an “impactful” team which enjoys working with each other.

“(However) I admit that we (Selangor administration) must improve our services after a year of being the government (post last year’s state election).”

The menteri besar was earlier asked to comment on a news report which claimed he was mulling a reshuffle involving two state exco members from PKR and DAP.

Amirudin, who is also Selangor Pakatan Harapan chairperson, however, said reshuffles are bound to happen if the situation arises.

“The possibility is there. Sometimes an exco member falls sick or passes away, and other factors (come up).”

Aside from the rumoured Selangor reshuffle, another news report also claimed that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will carry out a cabinet reshuffle in conjunction with the coalition government’s upcoming second anniversary in office.

It was claimed that Amirudin, who is also Gombak MP, would replace a PKR minister at the federal level.
