Kesedar grant issue: Ku Li blames K’tan govt

4pm: Gua Musang Umno division chief Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah says the South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) is not to blame for the delay in issuing land grants to settlers.

Razaleigh, fondly known as Ku Li, instead accuses the state government of stalling the process.

"Right now, we can't give out the grants to the settlers because the state government is stalling and doesn't want to resolve it.

"We can't be blamed for that. If we are chosen to form the state government next year, we can resolve it," he tells reporters at Kampung Jeram Tekoh, Gua Musang,

The issue of land ownership for Kesedar settlers became a focal point during the Nenggiri state by-election campaign.

Previously, Kelantan Menteri Besar Nassuruddin Daud argued that only the state government can resolve the land matter.

BN chairperson and Rural and Regional Development Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi countered Nassuruddin's claim, stating that Kesedar, as the rightful owner of the land, has full authority to distribute it to the settlers.

Orang Asli want new rep to make regular visits

2pm: The Orang Asli community has called on the Nenggiri state assemblyperson elected in this Saturday's by-election to make regular visits to their area, allowing them to become familiar with their new representative.

Dendi Abdullah, 33, a resident of Pos Simpor, tells Bernama that former assemblyperson Mohd Azizi Naim rarely visited the Orang Asli area even a year after taking office.

According to Dendi, the residents of the settlement never met Azizi during his tenure.

"The Temiar tribe in the interior is disappointed with the previous representative’s lack of engagement. Azizi never visited our village, even though Pos Simpor is under the Nenggiri state constituency.

"We have never had the opportunity to discuss with him the problems we are facing in the interior and this lack of communication has been a great concern for us," he says.

Pos Gob Kampung Tembaga head Elan Pedik, 45, hopes the newly elected representative will work closely with Orang Asli leaders to address, discuss and resolve the issues faced by the Orang Asli community.

‘Tesla fiasco shows Anwar’s govt lacks trade acumen’

Tesla's decision not to open a factory in Malaysia shows the failure of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's government to manage the country's trade, says Azmin Ali.

According to the former international trade and industry minister, Malaysia does not have the raw materials needed to build electric cars.

"We don't have nickel, there's only a small portion of it in Sabah, while the biggest deposit is in Indonesia.

"It wouldn't make sense for them (Tesla) to invest in Malaysia when the raw material is in Indonesia," the Bersatu leader tells a ceramah in Gua Musang.

He notes that Indonesian President Joko Widodo met Tesla boss Elon Musk to discuss investment opportunities.

Thai online news portal The Nation recently cited unnamed sources saying that Tesla has cancelled plans to develop factories in Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.

Elaborating, Azmin says during his ministerial stint, negotiations with the Tesla team were never regarding electric car factory, but more towards harnessing the company's satellite technology for rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak.

Umno man: Choose BN if you want PN manifesto fulfilled

10am: Nenggiri voters must vote for BN candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani if they want to ensure Perikatan Nasional fulfils its manifesto.

According to Kelantan Umno information chief Zawawi Othman, this is because 80 percent of the offers made by the PAS candidate for the by-election (Mohd Rizwadi Ismail) can only come to fruition with the federal government's help.

"I see that more than 80 percent of the (PN) manifesto needs the federal government's help, including in terms of funding, so if you want (PN's) manifesto to be fulfilled, better choose Awie (Azmawi)," Zawawi tells the media in Gua Musang.

PN's Khidmat manifesto outlines seven key thrusts it pledges to fulfil - should it win the Nenggiri by-election.

Based on the seven letters of the Malay word for service, the main focuses are service to the community, people’s rights, trust and integrity, economic power and infrastructure, knowledgeable society, pure values and prosperity, educated and skilled young people, and rural digital transformation.
