Ignore resignation rumours, PAS spiritual leader tells Perlis MB

PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin has advised Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli to disregard rumours concerning his position.

He clarified that there is no instruction for the Perlis PAS chief to relinquish the menteri besar post.

According to Hashim, the matter was never discussed at the party level.

“No, not to my knowledge. PAS has never asked Shukri to step down,” he told Harakahdaily.

Yesterday, Shukri, a three-term assemblyperson for Sanglang, who was appointed menteri besar after the 2022 general election, declined to entertain the speculation.

“I prefer not to address matters based solely on information from X. I continue to hold the position of menteri besar and perform my duties as usual," he said in a brief statement to Bernama.

In April, MACC arrested Shukri’s son to facilitate investigations linked to submitting false documents and claims involving RM600,000 over the past two years.

The PAS leader subsequently described this as a “test”, stating that his son should be punished if he violated the law.

On April 30, Shukri was also summoned for questioning and spent eight hours at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

In May, Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi called on Shukri to resign over the matter.
