NENGGIRI BY-ELECTION | National issues played up by Perikatan Nasional throughout the by-election campaign will not undermine voters’ support for BN, said Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

With less than 48 hours to polling, Zahid said he is optimistic that BN candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani will emerge victorious against PN.

“Voters in Nenggiri are very smart, the national issues played by them (PN) are not in their (voters’) minds.

“They have known of the state-level issues for a long time and there were no solutions given.

“What BN is doing now is not to ‘throw issues’ at them but to let voters assess the capability of not only PN’s candidate but the (PAS-led) state government,” Zahid told reporters.

He said this after attending the Kelantan state-level Risda celebration at Kampung Kala Star, Gua Musang.

Also present was Kelantan Umno chairperson Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, who is also Felcra chairperson.

Meanwhile, Zahid expressed his appreciation for BN’s machinery led by former Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, as well as Jazlan as operations director.

“I have tried hard not only to explain the issues that have been raised but to find solutions to the problems in all 20 polling districts in Nenggiri.

“And now we leave it to God, on the victory of our candidate Azmawi. God willing, on Saturday, our candidate will win,” he said.
