Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has dismissed speculation that a PKR minister would be dropped from the cabinet, calling it an outdated form of attack against the administration.

“It’s just political polemics and an attempt to undermine the government which is going all out to rejuvenate the economy and administration,” Sinar Harian reported him as saying today.

On Aug 12, Free Malaysia Today quoted a “well-placed source” who indicated that a prominent PKR minister is allegedly at risk of being transferred to another ministry or dropped from the cabinet due to performance issues.

The news portal added that a menteri besar is expected to assume a ministerial position.

It also quoted a DAP source as saying that the alleged cabinet shake-up might happen by the end of the month, with a few deputy ministers likely to be promoted to full ministerial positions.

However, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim dismissed the report on the same day.

“I have just been told (about this news). How did I not hear about it yet?

“Who will help to reshuffle? Seriously, I have not heard (about the matter),” he was reported as saying.

‘PKR is stable, peaceful’

On that note, Rafizi pinned the blame on the coalition government’s detractors for the report, accusing them of making a mountain out of a molehill.

“As our critics are unable to resolve pertinent issues like the economy, they make issues out of trivial things and politicise them.

“And I stress that in 25 years of me being in PKR, this is our most stable and peaceful period,” the party deputy president added.
