Cameron Highlands MP lauds 90pct Orang Asli support in Nenggiri

Cameron Highlands MP Ramli Mohd Nor has lauded the strong support from the Orang Asli community to BN candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani in the Nenggiri by-election.

According to him, about 90.6 percent of the Orang Asli in Nenggiri voted for the coalition in the polls.

A total of 20,245 people, including 2,560 Orang Asli cast their votes in the recently concluded by-election.

Ramli (above) said the information was garnered from five polling district centres in the constituency - Tohoi, Sungai Puain, Jenera, Simpor and Sungai Wias.

“I would like to congratulate the BN machinery and all parties who helped BN win the Nenggiri by-election.

“Also thank you, Nenggiri voters, especially the Orang Asli community for supporting BN,” Ramli said on Facebook.

The Orang Asli Settlement Security and Development Committee chairperson also congratulated Azmawi.

“For the new Nenggiri assemblyperson, fondly known as Awie, l wish him good luck fulfilling his responsibility as the people’s representative.

“Nenggiri’s voice must be raised loudly in the Kelantan state assembly,” Ramli added.

BN’s vote share shot up to 61.3 percent compared to 46.7 percent in the previous state polls, while its total votes received increased by 3,384 to 9,091.

Bersatu officially contested Nenggiri, but the candidate, Mohd Rizwadi Ismail, had been parachuted in from PAS just two days before nomination day - while candidates proposed by Bersatu were sidelined.
