Sexual assault on teen: Ex-political aide who is also PTA president charged

A father of four, who is also a former special officer to an MP and the parent-teacher association president of a secondary school, was charged with physical sexual misconduct on a 15-year-old girl in a swimming pool in Batu Pahat, Johor, last month.

According to media reports, Zainoor Juma’at, 45, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Sessions Court judge Sayani Mohd Nor.

He was accused of committing the offence against the Form Three student at the Pura Kencana swimming pool in Sri Gading at 6pm on July 25.

The victim had claimed she was swimming with a friend when Zainoor approached her and committed the act.

He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for a sentence of up to 20 years in jail and caning.

Zainoor was allowed to post bail at RM8,000 with one surety and fixed Sept 26 for case mention.

The New Straits Times reported that Zainoor is also under investigation concerning another case where a male student from the same school had accused him of physical misconduct at a hotel.

The student lodged a police report against him at the Johor Bahru (South) police headquarters.
