Chief Secretary to the Government Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar today announced several changes in placement and new appointments for top management posts in the civil service.

Agriculture and Food Securities Ministry secretary-general Lokman Hakim Ali will be transferred to the same post at the Defence Ministry, replacing Isham Ishak, who will take over as secretary-general at the Agriculture and Food Securities Ministry.

Their transfers take effect on Sept 23.

Shamsul (above), in a statement today, said these changes are being implemented in line with the government’s public service reforms that demand speed, agility, and dynamism in the top leadership to face a new era.

This, he said, follows Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement of a pay hike for civil servants on Aug 16.

In addition, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry secretary-general Suriani Ahmad is appointed Health Ministry secretary-general effective Sept 5.

Replacements

Human Resources Ministry secretary-general Khairul Dzaimee Daud will replace Suriani at the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry.

National Unity Ministry secretary-general Azman Mohd Yusoff will assume the post at the Human Resources Ministry and his former post to be filled by Works Ministry secretary-general Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad.

The change also involved Implementation Coordination Unit director-general Azman Ibrahim, who has been appointed the new Works Ministry secretary-general.

The new Home Ministry secretary-general Awang Alik Jeman was previously a senior deputy secretary-general in the Prime Minister’s Department. The post will be filled by Abd Shukor Mahmood.

Additionally, Muhammad Razman Abu Samah has been appointed as Public-Private Partnership Unit director-general, a post held by the chief secretary to the government.

Shamsul said the changes in placement and new appointments, all of which take effect tomorrow, reflect the synergy and collaboration between agencies, as well as embody the principle of loyalty that prioritises allegiance to the king and country in realising the aspirations of the Madani government.
